Freemotion Machine Embroidery Workshop with The Manbroiderer – 18th July 2026

£40.00

A joyful, beginner-friendly introduction to expressive machine stitching.

Create your own free-motion embroidered mini meadow in this fast-paced, creative workshop with textile artist Tony Phillips (The Manbroiderer). This session is designed to be welcoming, playful, and confidence-building – perfect for complete beginners as well as makers looking to loosen up their stitching style.

You’ll learn how to draw with thread, build lively colour and texture, and compose a small, stitched landscape inspired by wildflowers and meadow grasses. Once your background is complete, you’ll bring the piece to life with a characterful stitched wren, adding movement and personality to your design.

There’s plenty of room for personal expression: bold colour, soft neutrals, layered textures, or something entirely your own. You can also continue the story at home with optional hand-embroidered details.

What You’ll Learn:

  • – how to set up your machine and draw with thread
  • using layered stitching
  • for expressive, painterly effects
  • – focusing on the playful wren
  • for display or further embellishment

What’s Included:

  • All fabrics, threads, stabilisers, and materials
  • Printed reference sheets and guidance
  • Tea, coffee, and a relaxed, friendly studio atmosphere
  • PLEASE NOTE: YOU WILL NEED TO BRING YOUR OWN SEWING MACHINE CAPABLE OF DOING FREE MOTION EMBROIDERY
