Description
Come and join Rosey at her fabulous art workshops specifically for home-educated children (Suitable for older children aged 10+).
In these relaxed, small group sessions, children can explore their creativity in a nurturing, supportive environment.
In each workshop, the theme and techniques will be modelled and the children will be guided in creating their own work inspired by the theme. Children will also be encouraged to explore their own ideas, with the freedom to be creative in their own ways if they choose. There will also be ‘break out’ activities available, such as mindful colouring and doodling activities, for children to take breaks when needed. And of course- plenty of squash and biscuits provided! (Please let us know of any allergies).
Session 1: Wednesday 3rd December 11am-1pm Aboriginal inspired dot art – We will look at some examples of Aboriginal style art and notice the types of animals often depicted within them, as well as the symbols that are used to convey different meanings. We will collect ideas and each child will plan out their own large-scale piece. Perhaps they will include their favourite animal, object or some symbols they like. We will use acrylic paints to ‘block in’ areas of colour and paint pens to add dotted details over the top.
Session 2: Wednesday 10th December 11am-1pm Abstract acrylic painting inspired by Janet Skates – We will look at the bright, bold abstract artwork of the artist Janet Skates. We will observe the shapes in the artwork and practise sketching these and making our own similar doodles. Children can decide on their colour families and start to ‘block in’ the backgrounds for their own large-scale piece. Then we will add details in the form of layers and patterns with paint pens.
Session 3: Wednesday 17th December 11am-1pm Experimenting with watercolour paints to make Christmas cards – In this festive workshop we will be experimenting with watercolour paints to make Christmas cards. The children will be shown how to create some Christmassy designs on small pieces of watercolour paper (A5 size) including Christmas trees, baubles and wreaths. There will be plenty of time to practise and experiment with watercolour techniques… such as wet on dry, wet on wet, splattering and dry brush. There will also be a selection of Christmas stamps and metallic paints and pens to add details.
These workshops can be attended as a one-off (£20 each) or you can book all three sessions for £50. Parents can choose to stay with their child or ‘drop and go’.
