Granny Square Club: Level Up Your Squares

Do you love granny squares? Maybe you’ve made a few basic squares and aren’t sure where to go next? Would you like to make something beautiful to keep? Granny Square Club with Yarny Bees is the perfect place for you!

Come and learn how to level up your squares with support from Becci to help you increase your skills month on month. All hosted at Yarny Bees studio in Lichfield. (69 Upper St John Street, WS14 9DT)

Each month, you will be provided with all the materials you will need, included in the course fee. Over the course you will have enough yarn to create a cushion cover from your squares. You’ll then work with Becci, alongside a small group of other crochet enthusiasts to hone your skills. Please note, some squares may not be completed during the session. To get the most from the course it is advisable to continue to practice in your own time.

First Session: Saturday 17th January from 9:30-12pm

Subsequent dates: 14th February, 14th March, 11th April, 9th May, 6th June. (All sessions run at the same time.)

All the monthly sessions are included in your course as well as one free session each month at The Craft Hive, so you can come along, meet other people who enjoy craft, and get some support from Becci in between the classes.

There are a number of Craft Hive dates each month, so you can choose which one best suits you.

Materials provided: 2 balls 4ply cotton, 3.5mm crochet hook (if required), patterns

Month 2 – In the round

Project: Sunburst Square & Filet Square

Skills learned: Squaring a circle, double crochet

Materials provided: 2 balls 4ply cotton, patterns (Please bring 3.5mm crochet hook from previous month)

Month 3 – Getting more varied

Project: Daisy Square & Bobble Square

Skills learned: Double crochet, bobble stitch

Materials provided: 2 balls 4ply cotton, pattern (Please bring 3.5mm crochet hook from previous month)

Month 4 – Round and round

Project: Clover Square & Spiked Granny Square

Skills learned: Double treble crochet, combining stitches (tr5tog), working stitches into round below

Materials provided: 2 balls 4ply cotton, pattern (Please bring 3.5mm crochet hook from previous month)

Month 5 – Adding interest

Project: Bring a Pattern & Blocking

Skills learned: Reading an unfamiliar pattern, blocking, weaving in ends

Materials provided: 2 balls 4ply cotton (Please bring 3.5mm crochet hook from previous month)

Month 6 – Joining

Project: Joining squares from previous months

Skills learned: Different methods of joining squares.
